Sweet Pea Shack

Go back in time to Grandma’s flower garden as you sit in the shade of the sweet pea shack and breathe in the sweet scent of the sweet pea blossoms. They really are fragrant! Feel free to bring a cool beverage to enjoy as you look out over the long rows of flowers and watch, birds, bees and butterflies. We believe visitors will appreciate this spot to sit, visit and enjoy the view.

How the Sweep Pea Shack came to be:
Never having grown sweet peas before, Lori was determined and excited to give them a try. They needed a climbing structure, but it’s not Brad’s style to put up a simple fence, hence the Sweet Pea Shack was created. The walls are made of grain bin flooring and fencing that Brad had on hand. A shade cloth was added to the top, giving the sweet peas and visitors shade from the hot afternoon sun. A rollout awning, that Brad found on the exchange, was added on the front for more shade.

She Shed

This adorable shed provides the perfect place to arrange your flowers or just enjoy looking around inside. It has been decorated with a few vintage pieces like Lori’s toy pedal fire engine from when she was a little girl, her grandfather’s measuring wheel, an old watering can among other items.

History of the She Shed:
You could say this shed was the beginning of Valley View Flowers as it was first built and everything just kind of grew from there. When Lori told Brad she wanted a She Shed, he started brainstorming and searching for materials he could use on Craigslist. A grain bin floor, that was laying around, was used for the shed flooring and walk ways.  Brad found cement roofing tiles and log cabin style siding and windows on Craigslist. With a lot of creativity and work the She Shed came to be.

The Crib

This is our signature structure set in the midst of our Field of Dreams – a sea of flowers. We invite you to fill a picnic basket and enjoy lunch in The Crib. You’ll enjoy the window seat area where you can enjoy the view of the wild flowers.  It’s a wonderful place to spend time with your family and friends and make memories.

A little bit about The Crib
As they say, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure. Turning junk into treasures is something Brad does best! Most of the materials used for The Crib were found on the Exchange. The vintage arch window came from an old part of Omaha, large timbers found in Herman, Nebraska serve were used as rafters, the siding was an old fence that someone had partially painted red but never finished and an old deck someone tore off was used for the roof.

Raised Beds

You will enjoy the ease of picking flowers in our raised beds. There are currently nine raised beds and we hope to add more in 2021. There are also plans to do something new with the raised beds in 2021, but we’ll keep that a secret for later.
